Start your journey with Cairo : the city that is one of the capitals of the Ancient Egypt and the current capital of this country. Face the greatness of the Ancient Egypt : the Pyramids of Giza and Saqqara. The magnificent religious buildings will make you feel the spiritual vibes of this city : Alabaster Mosque, Sultan Hassan Mosque, the Hanging Church, Ben Ezra Synagog. Loose yourself in El Moez street and the medieval, but still operating, souk of Khan El Khalili. No doubt that the Islamic and Coptic Cairo will deep you straight into the Middle Ages.

Itinerary

Day 1Pyramids,Saqqarah,Museum

  • After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel.

    Start your private tour by discovering the last remaining ancient wonder of the world : the Pyramids of Giza : Cheops, Mykerinus and Chephren. Learn the history of this miraculous edifices that still keep the mystery of their construction. From the Plateau, enjoy the unique view of the Pyramids emerging from the golden sand of Giza. It’s the moment to take the pictures of your life ! Before leaving the site, let’s greet Abu El Hol, the 3000 years old great Sphinx.

    Reach now the second step of your journey : the Pyramid of Saqqara also know as the Pyramid of Djoser. Saqqara is the vast necropolis of the ancient Memphis. It’s on this site that King Djoser built his tomb more than 4000 years ago. It was the first time in history that the pyramidal shape was used to build the tomb of a kind.

    After lunch, finish your day by visiting the Museum of Cairo which contains the most beautiful artifacts of Ancient Egypt, royal mummies and the amazing treasure of King Tutankhamun. Return to your hotel for overnight.

Day 2Coptic,Islamic,Khan el Khalaili

Your guide will meet you at 8 AM in your hotel for a tour in the Islamic and Coptic Cairo.
Travel back to time by visiting the medieval district of Cairo. Start your day with the Hanging church. Hanged above the gate of the old Babylone Fortress, thIis church seeks to be admired. Proceed inside this holy edifice and examine the 13 pillars the whole nave stands on. It’s believed that the pillars symbolise Jesus and his 12 apostles, and the darker one represents Juda.
Visit now Saint Sergius Church. Dating back to the 4th century this building is an archetype of the early Coptic churches. This church is famous for its crypt that is believed to have host Joseph, Mary and the infant Jesus Christ at the end of their journey in Egypt.
Discover the Synagogue that is believed has been built where Moses was found by Pharaon’s daughter when he was a baby. Ben Ezra synagogue is famous for to its Geniza inside which outdated and holy documents containing the name of God were honorably stored.

Proceed now to the Islamic part of the city. Visit the first mosque to be built in Egypt and whole Africa in 641: Amr Ibn Al-Aas mosque. The story tells that the mosque was built where Amr Ibn Al-Aas had settled his tent because a dove laid an egg in it before the great battle he won against the Romans.
Enter the Citadel built by sultan Salah Al Din in order to defend the city against the army of the Crusaders. This fortress used to be the residence of Egyptian rulers during 700 years, nowadays it hosts many mosques and museums. Visit now the Alabaster mosque. You can’t miss this prodigious building while you are entering the citadel. Indeed, the Ottoman building majestically stands on the summit of the citadel so that you can admire its overlayed domes and great minarets.
Nearby, let’s discover the Cave Church, also know as the Monastery of Saint Simon. The church is housed in the hill El-Mokattam in an area called the
« garbage city » due to the large presence of garbage collectors known as « Zabbaleen ». The monastery of Saint Simon is actually the largest church in the whole Middle-East.

Stroll along El Moez street and admire the medieval buildings : madrassas (Koran schools), mosques and traditional houses. You will probably find in your way many young Egyptians looking for the perfect selfie. Pay attention to Bab Zuweila : one of the remaining gates of the medieval city of Cairo.
Then, make your way through the streets of Khan El Khalili. Built in the 14th century this souk is still operating. Spices, gold, soap, handmade souvenirs… you can find almost anything here. Need to go back home with a souvenir : Khan El Khalili is the ideal place for that ! Here, in this historical district, you will have lunch in a local restaurant.

End this fascinating tour on a relaxing note in El-Azhar Park. This vast green area is located in the middle of the most significant historical sites of Islamic Cairo. From there you can contemplate the great monuments that surround you.
You will be escorted back to your hotel for overnight

Day 3Luxor East bank/Check in Nile cruise

Our representative will pick you up from your place in Luxor to drive you to your cruise ship and will assist you with the check-in procedure.
After your lunch on board, visit of the two glorious temples of the East bank of the ancient Thebes : Karnak temple. This vastest Ancient temple was dedicated to the Theban triad Amun, Mut and their son Khonsu and was connected to Luxor Temple by an long alley of sphinxes. During more than 2000 years, about thirty Pharaohs have contributed to the construction of the building, making it unique by its size, its degree of elaboration and the diversity of styles.

End your day with Luxor temple : this is the perfect time to enjoy the splendor of the Ancient architecture highlighted by the shimmering rays of the setting sun. Enter the site facing the immense pylon of Ramses II, his monumental colossi and of course the huge obelisk. Here, for the Feast of Opet, used to take place every year the union of Mut and Amun and the rebirth of their son. This ceremony radiated on the Pharaoh, who could thus renew his power above whole Egypt. The site also hosts a roman chapel and a mosque that you can still admire on the top of the ancient columns of the temple.

Enjoy your dinner in your cruise ship and spend the night on board.

Day 4Luxor West bank/Sailing

After your breakfast on the cruise ship, star an unforgettable excursion to the West bank of Luxor. Discover first the valley of the Kings, a symbol of pharaohs’ glory. The site contains 63 tombs excavated in the rock of the mountain, the most famous one is that of king Tutankhamun. Venture inside a royal tomb and examine the colored scenes on the walls, these give you insights on the beliefs and funerary rites of Ancient Egyptian. It’s also a great reminder of the prestige and greatness of the pharaohs. Continue your visit with the temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Arriving to the site, the impressive cliff will not miss to captivate your eyes. But it’s at the foot of this masterpiece of nature that remains the real wonder : Hatshepsut temple. The external architecture match perfectly with the refined cliff, the building seems to have been sculpted into the rock. Once inside you will notice that many statues and engraving have their face destroyed, your expert guide will explain the strong history behind this.
Reach now the last step of your day : the Colossi of Memnon. Massive, proudly standing, and the gaze fixed toward the Nile, the two colossi of Memnon were the guardians of the vastest and the most sumptuous temple in Egypt : that of Amenhotep.

Reach your ship to have lunch and start your cruise to Edfu : visit it’s fabulous. enjoying Savor a dinner on board and spend the night in your cruise ship.

Day 5Edfu,Kom Ombo from Nile cruise

After breakfast on your cruise ship, make a stop at Edfu to visit the well-preserved Ptolemaic Temple dedicated to Horus, Osiris’ vengeful son. Sail to Kom Ombo and top over the “double-temple” of Sobek,. This temple is perfectly symmetrical : one half is dedicated to the crocodile dod Sobek and the other to the falcon-headed god Horus
Join your ship for lunch and continue sailing to Aswan.
Dinner and overnight on board the cruise ship.

Day 6Abu Simbel

Around 4 am, your guide will pick you up from Aswan at the place you choose. You will be driven during 3 hours by private air-conditioned car to Abu Simbel, 290 km south of Aswan.
The two temples you are about to visit are located on the west bank of Lake Nasser, but this is not there original place. Indeed, in order to save these Ancient treasures from the flood, decision was made to relocate them. Therefore, the temples were entirely moved in 1968 : dislocated and reassembled in a higher area. Nubia was a valuable region for Egyptians because of its gold and other precious goods. Hence, Pharaoh Ramesses II decided to build these two massive temples in order to establish his supremacy upon the Nubians. Visit these two masterpieces with your Egyptologist guide and discover the history of this place and of the great Pharaoh who build them. You will have plenty of time to take memorable photos.

Here ends your amazing tour at Abu Simbel, you will be driven back to Aswan to experience a traditional felucca ride around the islands of Aswan.
You will finally be transferred to your ship cruise in Aswan.

Day 7Check out/Aswan Highlights

After your breakfast, you will be invited to check-out from the Nile cruise. Enjoy a day tour to discover the highlights of Aswan. Enjoy a motorboat ride to reach the High Dam. A immense dam which allows a permanent agriculture by keeping the Nile under control. Go then to Agilika Island to visit Philae Temple. It is one of the most important sites of Nubia and was a center of the cult of Isis.

After this trip on the Nile you will be transferred to the place of your choice : hotel, airport …

    Trip walking or driving distance

    Please be aware that there are long driving hours on this tour. You can refer to the trip overview for more information on estimated travel times. Please note that any times mentioned are approximations only to give you an idea of the journey lengths and the actual time taken will depend on public transport timetables and road conditions. A mix of private and public transport is used throughout this trip, prepare your self  for some fun long rides.

    Pocket money

    We recommend you to carry on your pocket daily from 20 to 50 USD or what equals in EGP, depends on your personal needs, please consider your own spending habits when it comes to allowing for drinks, shopping and tipping, please also remember the following specific recommendations when planning your trip, also many places in Egypt are not accepting credit card but only in cash.

    Meals

    Eating is a big part of traveling fun and get to know country’s culture. Travelling with Aladin tours will experience a lot of different local type of food which we include everyday lunch in your program with variety of different local meals. Most of the time dinner are not included which we give you more flexibility in deciding what and with whom to eat. It also gives you more flexibility in your budget, the food generally is cheap in Egypt. Our groups tend to eat together to let you enjoy each other’s company. Your tour leader will be able to suggest the best of all restaurants during your trip.

    Local flights 

    Please make sure to attach your passport copy with your final confirmation in order to book the flight tickets. Internal flight tickets are issued locally and will be given to you prior to the flight departure. Domestic carriers for internal flights in Egypt will be Egypt Air or Nile Air. Flight information will not be available until a couple of days prior to the tour departure. Contact us for more details on your flights. The domestic flight maximum weight allowance is 20 kg.

    Tipping

    Tipping in Egypt known as “baksheesh” is a way of life in the Middle East. Locals themselves usually tip who provides them with service.  It is customary and even expected to tip small service providers. To make things as easy as possible and avoid hassling, Aladin tours has developed a tipping attitude where your tour leader will collect a contribution from everybody at the start of your tour and use this to tip anybody who has provided services to the group as a whole. A guideline for tipping is minimum $4 USD per day per person, you can pay in USD or the equivalent local currency (preferably local currency). If you feel that any service provider failed in maintaining or delivering good service, please bring it immediately to the attention of your tour leader to be able to improve our service partners and so a deduction of tips can take place. To not confuse you how much to tip the Tour Guide so we suggest you tip minimum 3$ per person per day, and at the end of the day it’s not a mandatory option.

    Feed back
